Allergy baby - by google |
The current incidence of allergic diseases has increased in line with changes in the lifestyle of modern society, pollution, and substances present in food.
The word allergy comes from the Greece "allol" which means a changed state. In general, allergy is an immune reaction that deviates/changes from normal and can cause harmful symptoms of the body. Allergy is one of the diseases that can be inherited in the family.
Only on the atopics
The allergic disease only concerns a child with an allergy talent called atopic, meaning there is an allergic talent that is passed down by one or both parents. Allergies can be prevented if we cope early.
Excessive immunity
In the body, we have known 5 types of antibodies or immunoglobulins namely immunoglobulin (Ig) G, A, M, E and D. In allergies, IgE is a much antibody role. Patients with allergies have high levels of IgE, especially those that are specific to allergens, such as house dust, mite (dust mites), animal dander, flower powder or food (eggs, milk, sea fish and others). Allergens can stimulate the onset of allergy symptoms such as itching, airway system (asthma, rhinitis), gastrointestinal tract (diarrhea, vomiting), skin (biduran, eczema), eyes (allergic conjunctivitis) and nervous system (a headache etc. ).
If the child is Allergic to the airway
1. Bronchial asthma
Bronchial asthma (chronic) is a chronic disease, characterized by increased airway sensitivity to external stimuli (dust, pollen, cold air, food) causing airway constriction and can be cured spontaneously or with treatment. Most asthma in children is due to allergies. Symptoms of asthma usually diminish or disappear in young adulthood.
Childhood asthma will make children chronically depleted of oxygen, affecting their growth and intellect. Children so rarely attend school and the rhythm of family life can be disrupted because of the small frequent asthma attack.
Recognize asthma symptoms:
- Typical is recurrent breathlessness accompanied by breath sounds
- A dry cough is an early symptom, usually in the evening and in the early morning. A next cough accompanied by thick sputum. These symptoms usually occur 4 - 8 hours after the child inhales allergens such as house dust, mite (mite), flower powder, animal fur, and others.
- It can also be triggered by physical exercise (exercise-induced asthma) and when laughing a lot.
Overcoming Asthma:
- The most important treatment of asthma is to prevent children from developing asthma attacks
- Anti-asthma drugs are generally intended to dilate the airways in asthma attacks. Sometimes anti-inflammatory / anti-inflammatory drugs are needed. When the asthma attack is severe, the child needs oxygen and needs to be hospitalized.
- For thick mucous diluents, it is necessary for mucus-thinning drugs.
- Preventive medications are given for severe or chronic asthma with frequent attacks. To reduce the side effects of drugs, drugs should be in the form of inhalation/spray. Regular use of medication as directed will result in optimal therapy.
2. Rhinitis allergic
Allergic pimples are allergy symptoms that occur in the nose. Allergic rhinitis affects more children's age. In a 4 seasons country, the disease occurs in a particular season (seasonal) that is during the spring. In Indonesia, allergic rhinitis is found year-round (persistent). About 87% of allergic rhinitis patients have a history of allergies in their family. Allergic rhinitis in children usually persists to adulthood and diminishes as old age. Approximately 15 - 25% of patients will recover spontaneously after 5 - 7 years.
Symptoms of rhinitis allergic:
- Sneezing accompanied by itching on the nose with a watery snot of approximately 20 ml every hour.
- Often accompanied by nasal congestion leads to fussy children and difficulty sleeping.
- The itchiness sometimes feels on the ceiling and ears.
- Symptoms of red, watery and itchy eyes often accompany the symptoms of allergic rhinitis.
- Sometimes the symptoms of allergic rhinitis are accompanied by sinusitis symptoms ie inflammation of the sinuses (air cavities) around the nose.
Overcoming rhinitis allergic:
- Most important is to avoid the factors causing (house dust, flower powder, certain foods etc).
- An antihistamine drug can overcome the itching in the nose, sneezing, and draining nasal fluids.
- Decongestant group drugs cope with symptoms of nasal congestion. As with asthma, prevention medications are usually nasal inhalers / nasal sprays given to patients with severe chronic allergic rhinitis.
